For CNC lathes (machining center) and other automatic processing machine tools, due to the number of cutting tools, tool rest and tool close contact, chip breaking problem is more important, as long as the knife chip breaking is not reliable, it may destroy the automatic cycle of machine tools, or even destroy the normal operation of the whole automatic line, so in the design, selection or grinding tool, The reliability of cutter chip breaking must be considered.
And for CNC machine tools (machining center), etc., and should meet the following requirements:
- The chip shall not be wound on the tool, workpiece and its adjacent tools and equipment;
- The chips shall not splash to ensure the safety of operators and observers;
- When finishing, the chip can not scratch the workpiece’s processed surface, affecting the quality of the processed surface;
- Ensure the scheduled durability of the tool, not premature wear and try to prevent its damage;
- When the chip flows out, it does not prevent the injection of cutting fluid;
- The chips will not scratch the guide rail or other parts of the machine tool.
On the basis of meeting the above requirements, different cutting tools have different requirements for chip length. For example, the length of the large chip of the general coarse steel material is about 100mm; Fine car should be slightly longer.
